If you're looking for the welcoming committee in a single dog, Chewie is your guy. At just shy of a year, he's the perfect mix of puppy and adolescent. Chewie excels with children, and can be trusted with kids of all ages. He has an emotional intelligence beyond his years and is the best cuddler. Chewie tends to pull on the leash, but responds well to correction. He knows sit, down, and stay, and is crate trained and potty trained (--take that with a grain of salt as every new environment will require an acclimation period for him to learn the routine). Chewie has a bubbly personality and gets along with every creature he meets. He has been spoiled with overwhelmingly positive experiences, and does not know to back off when a dog is more timid or reactive, so a supportive owner in those situations would be helpful. Chewie has so much love to give and we would almost say that it's required that he go to a home with kids. He has a special demeanor with little ones and truly acts like their imaginary friend come to life.

Chewie came to us from Dallas Animal Services where he was scheduled to be euthanized as a 4 month old puppy due to a leg injury. Chewie has now recovered and is so grateful to be on the waiting list for his very own family.

Regarding location: This adoptable dog originated in Texas and is currently in a foster home in Texas. He will be transported to the northeast within 30 days and is available for foster/adoption upon arrival. We have extensive knowledge about his behavior and are happy to share additional pictures and videos, offer Facetime/ Zoom meet and greets, and can test him in any situations you might be curious about (eg. at a farmers market, at a pond with ducks). Feel free to reach out by phone at 817-880-1715 or by email at info@craprescue.org.

Regarding transportation fees (if outside of TX): Following your application, a phone call with our president, Jyl, and a virtual meet and greet (if desired), we will transport this pup to your doorstep. That is very different from most transports that drop the animals off at agreed upon stops off the highway (usually gas stations). We bring the dog to you by a person familiar with the dog (usually Jyl or Brian), facilitate meet and greets with the resident dog(s), and answer any questions that arise at this meet and greet. Transportation has a nonrefundable cost of $200.
