Duchess

Duchess is a gentle spirit with the heart of a caregiver. She loves her owners deeply and has excellent basic obedience training. Duchess loves all people but does alert her family if danger is near. She was an emotional support animal for a veteran with PTSD and is extremely intelligent. She rides very well in the car, has good leash manners, and crates with no issues. She also is nondestructive in the home and could be left out without crating her. Duchess is very easy going and does not have high energy needs. She loves going on walks and hikes, but doesn't need that outlet to behave at home. Duchess is gentle with children and loves all people and dogs. Duchess is eager to please and would be a fantastic dog for a family or single person, in a house or apartment, or even in an RV. She would do well as either a single dog or with canine siblings. Duchess is a complete gem of a dog and is so ready to find her forever family.

Duchess came to use as an owner surrender from an army veteran who found herself homeless and living out of her car after an honorable discharge from service. She realized she could no longer care for her dogs and emotional support animals, Rex and Duchess, who had been critical in her management of PTSD. Unfortunately, after holding the dogs for 6 months, their owner has not found the stability to reclaim Rex and Duchess.

Regarding location: This adoptable dog originated in Texas and is currently in a foster home in Texas. She will be transported to the northeast within 30 days and is available for foster/adoption upon arrival. We have extensive knowledge about his behavior and are happy to share additional pictures and videos, offer Facetime/ Zoom meet and greets, and can test her in any situations you might be curious about (eg. at a farmers market, at a pond with ducks). Regarding transportation fees (if out of TX): Following your application, a phone call with our president, Jyl, and a virtual meet and greet (if desired), we will transport this pup to your doorstep. That is very different from most transports that drop the animals off at agreed upon stops off the highway (usually gas stations). We bring the dog to you by a person familiar with the dog (usually Jyl or Brian), facilitate meet and greets with the resident dog(s), and answer any questions that arise at this meet and greet. Transportation has a nonrefundable cost of $200.
