Larry is a 3 year old Shih Tzu. This little man was found abandoned in a park in downtown Fort Worth. He was very grateful to be warmly accepted into his foster home and he's done great with dogs of all sizes, cats, kids, and even a pot bellied pig! His teddy bear eyes look up at you with such love. Larry can be a bit standoffish with new people, but warms up quickly. He is a great mix of affectionate and independent. He walks well on a leash, is crate trained, and is house trained too! Larry is now up to date on all shots, is neutered, and is microchipped. He would thrive in a home with or without other animals. He is a really easy going, happy boy. Could Larry be the perfect fluffy addition to your home? Submit an application at CRAPrescue.org/application. His local adoption fee is $350.
Update January 27, 2023: Our amazing groomer friend, Elizabeth, spent 3.5 HOURS (free of charge, might I add) on Larry. The end result: Larry was transformed from yeti to teddy. The grooming experience also revealed that the horrendous lesion to his eye was the result of a grooming mishap. He tolerated the groom so well but showed extreme fear of a specific pair of purple scissors to his eye. Although it looks like his eye is healing well, the protective covering on his eye over the lesion is only 2 cells thick. His chance of healing vs rupture is 50/50. The doctor bought us five days with antibiotic therapy and a serum made from his own blood, but the only way to for sure save his eye is through a $3500 corneal graft surgery. He is currently with his Foster-to-Adopt mom who is taking care of his every need until a decision is made as to the level of intervention needed.
Update 2/24/24: Larry's eye is fully healed with little impairment to his vision! Larry is also ADOPTED! He lives outside of Dallas with his Shih Tzu sister and has brought a youthful spunkiness into their home.
