Lemon

Lemon's sweet, eager eyes are so full of love. As a German shorthair pointer/ pitbull mix, Lemon is a perfect mix of intelligent, loving, and intuitive. He is eager to learn, enjoys pleasing his people and will do anything for a treat. He currently knows sit, down, stay and shake. Lemon is about 2 years old and weights 60 lbs.

Lemon came to Fort Worth from the far away land of San Diego, Texas, where he was one of two final dogs "housed" at San Diego Animal Control. They had received no vetting and were simply locked in short kennels: no vaccines, vet care, spaying/neutering, microchipping.. Lemon is now up to date on shots, is has received treatment for his heartworms, and is neutered. Lemon loves car rides, walks well on a leash, and enjoys playing with other dogs. Lemon is crate trained and prefers to eat his meals in his crate. Lemon loves other dogs, but would also do well as a single pup. He would love a home with owners who will continue to reinforce basic training so as to build a strong bond and foster confidence. Once he knows who his people are, Lemon is even obedient off leash and does not wander far. He would make a great hiking or camping companion! Lemon does well with children, but we think he would do best in a home without toddlers given his lack of reserve with food. He knows how to take treats gently, but sometimes needs little reminders to do so slowly. Lemon's personality and confidence have truly grown with his time at Code Red Animal Project and we cannot wait to see what wonderful family he ends up with. His bright spirit and loyal personality will make him the perfect addition to a loving home.
