Meet Agatha! There is something about Agatha that just makes you smile.

Maybe it's her gentle goofiness. Maybe it's the way she seems to love absolutely everyone she meets. Maybe it's her funny little foot. Whatever it is, this 1-year-old brindle lovebug has a gift for turning even the biggest frown upside down.

And to think she almost never got the chance to grow up.

Agatha arrived at the Dallas city shelter as an unweaned puppy alongside her sisters and mom. She had been born with a limb difference: one of her legs ends without a traditional paw, but has a perfectly functional little toe pad in its place. Because of that birth defect, tiny Agatha was scheduled to be euthanized.

We couldn't let that happen.

So Agatha came to Code Red Animal Project along with her three sisters—including adoptable Lizzie and Leslie—and their mom, Georgia. We watched this funny little puppy grow up, and she has become an even more wonderful dog than we could have imagined.

Agatha's little foot doesn't define her, and she certainly doesn't seem to know there's anything different about her. She gets around beautifully and has spent her life running, playing, and keeping up with everyone else.

But her temperament is where Agatha really shines.

This girl **loves everyone.** Dogs, other animals, adults, kids... Agatha seems to approach the world assuming that everyone she meets is probably going to be her friend. She's been very well socialized and has grown into an exceptionally gentle, happy, easygoing dog.

She has a softness about her that is hard to describe until you meet her. She's goofy without being wild, affectionate without being overwhelming, and has the kind of gentle heart that makes people gravitate toward her. We genuinely think Agatha has the temperament of a therapy dog.

She's also got some pretty fantastic life skills. Agatha is crate trained, house trained, and great in the car. She has **excellent recall**, doesn't wander, and has spent her whole life enjoying the freedom of being a well-behaved country girl.

Her leash skills could use a little polishing, but mostly because she hasn't had much reason to use one. When you have perfect recall and acres to explore, sidewalks aren't exactly part of the daily routine. With a little consistency, we expect she'll catch on quickly.

Agatha could fit beautifully into almost any family. A house full of kids and pets? She'd be thrilled. A quieter home looking for a sweet companion? She'd happily settle into that, too. What matters most is finding someone who appreciates the incredibly special little soul she is.

It's difficult to reconcile the dog standing in front of us today with the tiny puppy who almost lost her life simply because she was born a little different.

That funny little foot didn't make Agatha's life worth less.

If anything, it's become one small part of a dog who reminds us every day just how much joy can come from giving someone a chance.

Agatha is gentle, goofy, loving, beautifully imperfect, and 100% good girl.

All she needs now is a family lucky enough to call her theirs.

Apply to adopt Agatha at CRAPrescue.org/application.

Adoption process: After your phone screening, we can schedule a meet and greet/the start of your foster-to-adopt trial. All adoptions have a 2 week minimum foster-to-adopt trial to make sure that the pet is the right fit for your home, and vice versa. Agatha's adoption fee is $250, which would be due after the foster-to-adopt period. If you are located outside of Texas, we offer to-your-door transportation and have so many happy families as references. We are very transparent about the process so feel free to ask any questions.
