Meet Duffy! Duffy is just 6 months old and 13 pounds, with a whole lot of personality packed into a pretty tiny package.
He came into the San Marcos shelter after someone reported finding him walking down the street. It quickly became apparent that something wasn't right with his back leg. He wouldn't put any weight on his right hind leg, and an exam revealed an unstable tibia/fibula fracture.
Thankfully, Duffy hasn't let it dampen his spirits one bit.
He's currently in his third and FINAL splint and has been doing wonderfully. He's happily walking on all four legs, doesn't appear to be in any pain, and is more than ready to put this little speed bump behind him.
And this boy is FUN.
Duffy is outgoing, social, peppy, and always seems to be having a good time. He loves to run and play, is extremely dog friendly, and has been sweet with everyone he's met. He's easy to carry and handle and has that wonderful puppy combination of confidence, curiosity, affection, and just the right amount of sass.
For such a young guy, he's already got some impressive manners, too. Duffy is crate trained, has great recall, and is eager to be involved in whatever is going on. There's something about his alert little face and spunky personality that reminds us of a teeny-tiny Dutch Shepherd—just without quite so much dog.
At 6 months old and only 13 pounds, we're expecting Duffy to mature into what we lovingly call a **Shmedium**. Not tiny, definitely not big, and just about the perfect size for tagging along on adventures and then curling up with you afterward.
Duffy is:
* 6 months old
* 13 pounds and still growing
* Extremely dog friendly
* Outgoing and social
* Crate trained and working on his leash skills
* Great recall
* Friendly and easy to handle
* Playful and affectionate
* Neutered, fully vaccinated, heartworm negative, and microchipped
Duffy has already dealt with a broken leg and shelter life, and somehow he's come through it all thinking people are great, dogs are great, playing is great, and life in general is pretty darn exciting.
He's sweet, silly, confident, and just the right amount of sassy. Most of all, he's a happy little pup who is ready to finish healing and get on with the important business of growing up in a home of his own.
Apply to adopt Duffy at CRAPrescue.org/application.
Adoption process: After your phone screening, we can schedule a meet and greet/the start of your foster-to-adopt trial. All adoptions have a 2 week minimum foster-to-adopt trial to make sure that the pet is the right fit for your home, and vice versa. Duffy's adoption fee is $250, which would be due after the foster-to-adopt period. If you are located outside of Texas, we offer to-your-door transportation and have so many happy families as references. We are very transparent about the process so feel free to ask any questions.
