Meet Simba, a 6-year-old Chow–Shepherd mix with the heart of a guardian and the soul of a best friend.

Simba came to us just in time from Dallas Animal Services, where he went last call due to length of stay. He was also heartworm positive. He was a shelter volunteer favorite, and the moment we picked him up, we understood exactly why. Simba is the kind of dog who quietly earns your devotion: steady, loyal, and deeply connected to his people.

This boy knows all the things a great dog should know. He has excellent house manners, walks beautifully on leash, has reliable off-leash skills, and knows his basic obedience. Simba rides like a dream in the car, loves being near his humans, and is perfectly content lounging in the house. He’s also crate trained and comfortable when needed.

Simba has wonderful natural instincts: he’ll alert you if a new person or animal comes onto your property, but he’s thoughtful and discerning, quickly recognizing when there’s no threat. It’s a rare balance of awareness and calm, and Simba has it in spades.

He is exceptional with other dogs, children, adults of all ages, cats, and even farm animals. Yes—he’s also done great around parrots. There truly isn’t a box Simba doesn’t check.

Simba is microchipped, up to date on shots, and neutered. He's been treated for his heartworms and should test negative at next testing. He's also had a 12 month dose of heartworm prevention via ProHeart12 injection.

Adoption process: After your phone screening, we can schedule a meet and greet / the start of your foster-to-adopt trial. All adoptions have a 2 week minimum foster-to-adopt trial to make sure that the pet is the right fit for your home, and vice versa. Simba's adoption fee is $300, which would be due after the foster-to-adopt period. If you are located outside of Texas, we offer to-your-door transportation and have so many happy families as references. We are very transparent about the process so feel free to ask any questions.
