All hail Squash: our 7-year-old Frenchie queen with a comeback story worthy of a crown.

Squash joined our rescue back in October as a stray in heartbreaking condition. She had extreme hair loss along her back, one of the worst yeast buildups we had ever seen, ingrown toenails, and severely infected ears. It was clear she had endured years of neglect and overbreeding. But Squash? She never let it steal her sparkle.

Today, this resilient little queen has come such a long way. She is fully vetted: vaccinated, heartworm negative, spayed, and microchipped. She remains on a few medications for her skin and ears, but we’re optimistic that with a little more time, she’ll be able to wean off them. Her coat is improving, her ears are healing, and her spirit has always been perfectly intact.

Squash is, quite simply, the sweetest girl in the world. She loves every human and animal she meets and greets everyone with a joyful innocence that melts hearts instantly. She walks nicely on a leash, is excellent in her crate, and understands that potty time is for outside. She is still working on not occasionally tinkling in the house (outside of her crate, usually on non-carpeted floors). We suspect she lived much of her life outdoors on concrete, and while she’s incredibly grateful for soft blankets and indoor living, it hasn’t fully clicked yet that tile floors are not her former outdoor potty spots. She’s trying, and she’s worth every bit of patience.

Don’t let her age fool you. Between her long, luxurious snoozes, Squash is spunky and playful. She loves to follow her people from room to room, explore the outdoors, and car rides are her absolute favorite. Wherever you go, she’d like to be included, please.
Squash is genuinely worth her weight in gold. She will bring laughter, tenderness, and so much happiness to the lucky home that welcomes her.

If you’re ready to treat this queen the way she’s always deserved, apply to meet Squash at CRAPrescue.org/application.

Adoption process: After your phone screening, we can schedule a meet and greet / the start of your foster-to-adopt trial. All adoptions have a 2 week minimum foster-to-adopt trial to make sure that the pet is the right fit for your home, and vice versa. Sqash's adoption fee is $400, which would be due after the foster-to-adopt period. If you are located outside of Texas, we offer to-your-door transportation and have so many happy families as references. We are very transparent about the process so feel free to ask any questions.
