Winter is a 3-year-old mixed-breed masterpiece; an absolute Heinz 57 with a silky-soft coat and an even softer heart. Whatever breeds came together to create him, they got one thing exactly right: his incredible temperament.
Winter truly loves everyone. He's lived successfully with dogs of all sizes, cats, and children, and he greets new people as if they've been friends forever. He's the kind of dog who happily joins you for a car ride, strolls politely on a leash, and then curls up beside you for a snuggle at the end of the day. In fact, Winter may just be the world's biggest cuddle bug.
Perfectly house-trained and eager to be close to his people, Winter is a classic velcro dog. He doesn't care what you're doing, he just wants to be doing it with you.
Winter is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, and heartworm negative. He's healthy, happy, and ready for his next chapter.
His story, however, is a bittersweet one. As a puppy, Winter was found as a stray and welcomed into a loving family who made him one of their own. For three wonderful years, he knew nothing but love. Then tragedy struck when his human dad unexpectedly passed away. As the family navigated immense loss and hardship, they were forced to sell their home and move into housing governed by an HOA. Heartbreakingly, Winter wasn't allowed to come with them.
The decision to rehome him was made entirely out of necessity, not lack of love. His family remains heartbroken, and Winter has understandably been confused by all the changes. Yet through it all, he has remained the sweet, resilient boy he's always been.
Winter has settled beautifully into his foster home and continues to prove what an adaptable, loving companion he is. He enjoys the company of other animals but is confident enough to thrive as an only dog, too. He doesn't need a canine sibling, a big yard, or any special accommodations. His only requirement is love.
If you're looking for a loyal companion who will greet you with a wagging tail, ride shotgun on life's adventures, and be your shadow wherever you go, Winter may be exactly the dog you've been searching for.
Could Winter's next forever home be yours? Apply to adopt at CRAPrescue.org/application.
Adoption process: After your phone screening, we can schedule a meet and greet/the start of your foster-to-adopt trial. All adoptions have a 2 week minimum foster-to-adopt trial to make sure that the pet is the right fit for your home, and vice versa. Winter's adoption fee is $250, which would be due after the foster-to-adopt period. If you are located outside of Texas, we offer to-your-door transportation and have so many happy families as references. We are very transparent about the process so feel free to ask any questions.
